Overlooked Abolitionists
|
So
far in our discussion, we have seen arguments for and against slavery
only from the perspective of white males. Yet, women played a significant
role in the struggle for the freedom of slaves. Though women had almost
no political rights, the 18th century saw the beginning of the rise
of the female public voice. Thus, women not only fought for slaves,
but for their own rights as well. In this room, we will gain a greater
understanding of the identification of one subverted class with another. |
