COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to help you become better readers and writers of poetry and fiction. We will discuss student work as well as published poems and stories by established writers.  Class discussion will focus on the craft of writing—how pieces work (or don’t work) within their respective genre.  In addition to the readings, emphasis will be placed on writing exercises and the development of a critical/literary vocabulary. Students will be expected to participate in class discussion, complete writing assignments, and discuss work of their peers.
