History of Video Technology 1987 -JVC release the SVHS recorder that had 400 lines of resolution compared to the regular 240 lines of VHS. This occurred since the SVHS recorder used four inputs (one audio, one red, one green, and one blue) instead of the normal two (one audio and one color). 1988 -Sony announces that they will drop the Betamax format and only produce VHS VCRs. 1989 -SVHS videotapes with extended recording time released. |
