				LOG 11

Yes, it's the log for session eleven. So strap yourselves in, eh?
Laughter notices Fiona's presence just in time for her to depart
with Bleys. Never fear, they will both return.
Ulysses is the only young Amberite who rests on this night before
the big mission. Jubal works on spells, Sandr studies for a spell,
Archimedes sits while Random spells things out, and Laughter can't sleep
under orders from Doctor Gerard, who just can't spell.
	Enough of this crap.
The new day dawns to find that our anxious heroes couldn't wait
that long, especially not Sandr, who becomes so engrossed in his study of
the Pattern that he makes the mistake of making Random wait. Archimedes
doesn't and tries to leave without him. And Ulysses, who went to find the
lad on his own. And Laughter, whom Random sent to find the two of them.
Jubal can't wait to see how this turns out. He doesn't have long to wait
before Random uses the Pattern to throw his weight around. In the ensuing
discussion, Sandr points out that since he never pledged fealty to Random,
he doesn't have to do what he says. Random decides that this thing will
happen. It doesn't. Sandr gets to stay with Fiona, but who exactly this
is punishing is unclear, although a certain phrase involving a hunk of
rock and two dazed birds comes to mind.
Ulysses announces that he has a thought. No one much cares until
he points out that it could make their field trip superfluous. His
thought is encouraged, and Sandr is quickly nominated as test subject.
Ulysses walks the Pattern. Once at the center, he gathers its energies.
This operation tingles slightly more than shampoo, but rather less than,
say, a thermo-nuclear explosion. He succeeds in making contact with
Sandr, though it is widely held that the feat would have been more
impressive had it not left them both smoking slightly on the floor of the
Great Hall.
Sandr, upon regaining consciousness theorizes as to what went
wrong exactly. The party decides that now would be a good time for
departure. They plow through Shadow with Archimedes in the lead, for the
simple reason that no one else was so inclined. They find several
splendid sortees, but they decide that tea and cookies with Fiona is too
high of a price to pay for crossing the King.
	Speaking of which...
Fiona and Sandr arrive at the Grove of the Unicorn, where Bleys
awaits them. Sandr plays with bits of paper while his closest living
relatives ignore the hell out of him.
The main party discover Benedict at last, beating hell out of the
Chaosites. Archimedes immediately joins the fray, since he's the only one
whom Random's bothered to brief on the whole mission. Laughter throws all
kinds o' stuff into the battle from a high bluff. Ulysses and Jubal
reaffirm each other in their decision to avoid bloodshed, particularly
their own. The battle eventually winds down, and while Archimedes
delivers his message, Laughter pokes around the corpses. Literally.
She's the good stuff character, mind you. Benedict says he'll head for
Amber tomorrow.
Fiona and Bleys don't see the point in destroying Corwin's
Pattern. Sandr says he does and pitches his science fiction universe
theory. His aunt and uncle humor him.
The rest of this generation trek back to Avalon, where Laughter
learns that frivolous industries shut down in times of crisis. She gets
Ulysses and Archimedes to help her try to get a wimpy Shadow blacksmith to
fix her unique and extraordinary sword. This does not work. She later
buys a new sword, but she pays the guy handsomely for his incompetence.
She tells fairy tales at dinner.
Sandr figures that it has to be an insider threat, and there is
nothing to fear from Chaos. Random asks for proof. They decide that it
could be just about anyone, but Caine and Cameron are especially noted.
Ulysses and Jubal discuss the possibilities of using A.S.S. on an
inanimate object. Jubal goes upstairs with Laughter to try it, while
Sandr establishes a contact of sorts with Ulysses. He wants everyone to
return immediately, but they had to wait a week, 'cause they only meet on
Fridays.
