				SESSION 18

i have nothing funny to say. why should i amuse you all when life
is so dreary. take what joy you may from this, for i have had none in
preparing it.
oh, woe! the day that ever i was born! oh woe!....

i beg your pardon. 89x just played fucking morrisey.

Lyria informs Ulysses that a colleague of hers in Chaos has erred
and that he should just go back to sleep. Sadly, she takes her own advice
better than he, and Ulysses spends the remainder of the evening on a
balcony, the precise location of which is subject to dispute.
Sandr casts spells at the box which houses the Jewel of Judgement.
Actually, this does not occur. Rather, the precocious lad "convinces" one
of Tianen's servants to open it for him, suspecting that Finndo may not be
completely stupid. Unfortunately, the guy makes a poor waldo, so Brand's
joy attempts to trip the lock magically.
Jubal contemplates the acquisition of funds necessary to pay for
the somewhat damp lodgings which he was chosen.
Cameron enters a na siogai ravaged village in Foil and chooses a
corpse. He reforms himself appropriately and schleps off with the dead
kid. Arriving in an untouched town, he proceeds to weep over his dead,
gay son, blaming Laughter for distracting the militia from its
Foil-protecting duties. He succeeds in raising "antipathy and
indignation" over the destruction of Romanorum. With a song in his heart
and a spoiling child in his arms, he limps off to the next town.
Laughter dresses, and Archimedes seems not to mind. They chat for
a bit, but it all ends with her dumping him in the bath room. She returns
with clothing for him, then helps him put off the need for them.
Ulysses comes around and, after preparing himself for another
fun-filled day, Trumps Sandr to get it out of the way. He interrupts
Sandr's lock-pick spell, and they have a discussion about the nicities of
timing. Ulysses tries to help him out, but Sandr will have nothing go
well for him. Ulysses explains certain concepts to him.
Laughter talks to Kait, who has no idea what her foster daughter
is on about but is happy for her orgasms nonetheless. Laughter Trumps
Fiona on the basis that she might understand a bit more about how Shadows
work than does Kait, having seen more of them than just the one. They
exchange pleasantries, and then Fiona quickly manages to state her
position and the fact that helping ungrateful daughters is not a crucial
factor in it.
Sandr gives Ulysses the lock box, then comes through to Foil
himself. Actually, that's only half true. He tells Ulysses to run away
and not to give the box to Lyria. They'll contact each other once safely
out in Shadow.
Ulysses Trumps Random and delivers unto him the Jewel of Judgement
on the basis that Sandr only mentioned Lyria by name.
Ulysses Trumps Archimedes and is in the midst of explaining that
some sort of dress would be appropriate when the contact is violently cut
off.
Ulysses tries to bargain with Random, who explains to him that
having already handed over the Jewel is a poor place to be in
negotiations.
Ulysses Trumps Sandr and winds up in a world of hurt. He
determines that Tianen has rendered Trump inoperable, which is I suppose
one way of looking at it.
Tianen shows up, looking prim and austere, and Ulysses, feeling
spiteful, asks how her servent Lyria is doing. Tianen wonders how she
should know, Lyria being the eldest daughter of Duke Sawall and not a
servent.
Sandr arrives behind Random, who isn't quite large enough to hide
behind, and anyway the ex-King steps aside to allow Tianen a clear shot.
Archimedes Trumps Random to see what happened and quickly joins
the posse.
Tianen and Random glare at each other, and Archimedes realizes
that his dad is about to do something incredibly stupid: pull out rock
when everyone knows that she always chooses paper. For this gross
negligence to detail, Tianen shoots him seventy feet into the air.
Archimedes figures that Random only remains aloft due to Tianen's
concentration. Further considering that Random could probably survive the
fall, he attacks Tianen. She brings the man who would be King again down
between herself and water boy, who decides that he can probably miss
Random and continues to attack. One can only contemplate that Random was
thus provided with an excellent vantage from which to consider that maybe
he should have supervised his son's lessons a bit more than never.
Tianen runs away to think about how to out think someone who
doesn't.
Laughter accepts a Trump call from Lyria, who is concerned about
Ulysses whereabouts. Laughter wonders where Archimedes might be in
return. They decide to eat breakfast.
Laughter Trumps Archimedes, who wants her to come through but
refuses to assist Lyria. She insists, so he asks Random if it's okay.
Sandr decides that now would be a good time to reveal that Lyria was just
there, and they would all be a little happier if she never came back.
Laughter comes through alone.
Well, actually, she brought along a little pal who just wants to
hug and squeeze the entire Shadow. Everyone runs except for Random, who
decides that he needs to demonstrate his absolute authority. With a
hearty sigh, they all decide to stay and watch.
Corwin arrives, and with his help Random actually succeeds.
Jubal Trumps Corwin and asks for directions to the nearest cache
of gold and a boost into Shadow. Corwin asks Archimedes if Jubal's okay,
and Archimedes says he isn't sure. Corwin pulls him through.
Cameron gets questioned by the Foil militia and manages to spread
angst over the course of an afternoon.
Random figures that Adrian might know some dirt on Tianen, and
Jubal agrees to work on it, but only if they fund his house in Rebma.
This being a laughable fee, the King accepts.
Laughter, meanwhile, decides to check on Foil, having left Tianen
roaming there. Beauty pulls her through, and they have a thoroughly
unsatisfactory conversation which ends abruptly when Archimedes Trumps
Laughter and points out that anyone could be Tianen. Laughter decides to
check back later.
This occurs rapidly, and even Sandr is rounded up for the trip.
Ulysses works on a Trump of Adrian's room, and everyone else
relaxes for awhile. Archimedes, allergic to rest, suggests to Random that
maybe someone should check on Martin. Laughter gets boned over more na
siogai raids, and she and Archimedes go to check it out.
Cameron gets Trumped while surrounded by the militia. He takes it
in the loo. Finndo wants him to bring him his choice of Sandr's organs. A
corpse is unceremoniously dumped, and Cameron slinks off with all of the
assurance of a stiff.
Laughter and Archimedes play with the fairies, who have none of
her magic. They learn that Tianen opened up a time-gate which allows the
na siogai to cross into the present.
Jubal fetches Adrian from Llewella, who is as inscrutably polite
as ever.
Cameron Trumps Finndo, but the log does not seem to know why. I
would assume he questioned the necessity of actually killing Sandr, when
maiming would be more amusing in the long run.
Laughter sics Fiona on Tianen's gate. There is a Shadow cracking
boom.
Ulysses goes to bed upon completing the Trump. Everyone else goes
through. Adrian's brain is re-booted, and the rest is hush-hush.

Cast Placement:
Archimedes, Laughter, Sandr, Corwin, and Random are God knows
where in Foil, having been booted from the room where everything was
happening.
Cameron is somewhere in Foil, deciding which organ to remove.
Jubal is questioning Adrian in Foil.
	Ulysses sleeps alone, in Foil.
