An FBI agent with no inkling as to her true heritage, Jillian is just beginning to suspect that things in her Shadow are not quite what they seem.
Jillian is around 5'9" tall and a bit on the slender side, with a tan complexion and musculature just toned enough to indicate that she exercises regularly. She has shoulder length, wavy black hair that she often wears with the sides pulled back, and very striking blue eyes.
While Jillian tends to wear suits when on the job, she dresses pretty casually when not on duty, preferring clothing that is comfortable and loose enough to allow her freedom of movement.
Although she doesn't discuss her work much, it's obvious that Jillian loves her job and takes it very seriously. Watching what happened to her home town after gambling became legal there left her with a strong dislike of criminals in general, and organized crime in particular. She tends towards only a few close friends, rather than many superficial ones, and comes off as overly serious to those who don't know her well, and perhaps a touch impatient. She rarely dates, which is a source of some frustration to her. It's not that she doesn't want to, it's just that she never seems to have the time, or meet anyone she'd be willing to make the time for. She often spends her free time in athletic pursuits, either on company athletic teams, or whatever outdoor activities the area has to offer.
A set of scales.
Blue and gray.
Jillian intently regards the viewer, leaning forward slightly, as if anxious to depart. She appears young, but not naively so, and there is an air of determination about her, with perhaps a touch of impatience. Her skin is golden brown and her slender form is nicely toned, giving an impression of vitality. Her shoulder-length hair, pulled back so as not to fall into her face, is wavy and black, and her eyes are an intense blue. They bore relentlessly into the viewer.
Special Agent Roman.
Jillian was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in a Shadow very similar to modern Earth.
Jillian is the daughter of John, a member of the Atlantic City Police Department, and Mary, a homemaker. She also has a younger sister, Becky, who is currently attending college at Rutgers. A quiet child, Jillian was considered unusually bright, but had very few friends in school and tended to keep to herself. In addition to playing on the varsity track and swim teams, she worked at various jobs throughout high school, and spent several summers as a lifeguard at the shore. After graduation, she attended Princeton University on a National Merit scholarship. She expanded her social circle somewhat in college, although even there she tended towards only a few close friends, spending most of her time on her studies. During her sophomore year, she was nearly raped by a man she had been dating. Although she was strong enough to fight him off, the incident left her rather shaken, and she joined a women's self-defense program shortly thereafter. Much to her surprise, she found she excelled at it, and when the class ended she sought further instruction, taking classes in jujitsu, karate and tae kwon do.
Jillian first became interested in the FBI during a recruitment visit on campus, and she joined up immediately after graduating magna cum laude with a degree in criminology. She went through the usual agent training, received further instruction in hand-to-hand combat, and became an expert marksman. Since completing her training, her cases have mostly been homicides, kidnappings, and other violent crimes, rather than counterfeiting rings and white-collar crime. She prefers such cases because they speak more to her desire for justice, and they are a lot like the work her father does. While considered a good agent, Jillian has a tendency to stretch the rules if she has to, in order to see justice done. She's never been officially reprimanded, but unofficially she's been lectured on more than one occasion for not following procedure, which hasn't exactly helped her advancement within the FBI. She's currently assigned to the Bureau's office in New Orleans where she is partnered with an older, more experienced agent, in hopes she'll model herself more after him.
