Alex's log, Chapter 116

    Sunday, August 20, 2994

    Alex talks to Teresa about Chaos (detailing some of the things she and their mother had talked about).

    Alex's weird dream: He is climbing a craggy mountain, at the top of which is absolute power (we all have to have our goals). The sky is dark, with lightning but no rain. Reeshau and Rashan are climbing as well. Both are ahead of Alex. Reeshau is the highest. Rashan pulls him down and Reeshau falls off the mountain. Alex turns to demon form to fly up. Rashan notices this and casts a flying spell. Alex casts dispel magic at him, sending Rashan falling to his doom. Alex resumes climbing the mountain. When he is two handholds from the top, a bolt of lightning strikes the summit of the mountain. A figure is revealed inside the lightning. The figure is a large humanoid, while the bolt of lightning itself is shaped like a dragon. The humanoid reaches out for Alex, and he feels as though he is being crushed.

    Alex wakes up with his arm intact, and without his two copilots. They re-emerge later. Neither of them talks to Alex. He decides not to inform them of the rest of the dream, since they don't seem to know about anything that happened after they "died."

    Monday, August 21, 2994

    Alex has breakfast in his room, saving everyone the shock of seeing him with two arms.

    After breakfast, Whimsy and Ishmael introduce themselves personally. Alex's cloak proves that it shouldn't go on the auction block. The two would-be hunters are foiled by a simple place Trump (snicker, snicker).

    Having found himself in the main hall, and not wishing to stick around, Alex goes to his mother's townhouse. She is packing to move to the castle. Alex spends the rest of the afternoon getting to know his new arm. Later that day, Alex goes to talk with Caitt. They dally.

    Tuesday, August 22, 2994

    The next morning, Alex attends the funeral for Ronan's men.

    At lunch following the funeral, Alex's arm is the topic of discussion. He is not at all comfortable with this fact.

    Alex attends Deirdre's funeral that afternoon.

    There is a banquet after the funeral. Alex talks to Cordelia. Alex says he will visit the Feldane estate at some point in the future.

    Alex and Teresa talk for a while. She blurts out about Ronan's plans for rebellion. In defending himself, Ronan blurts out more detail.
