Whimsy's log, Chapter 116

    Sunday, August 20, 2994

    At dinner, Whimsy is relatively restrained after she spikes Ronan's drink in an attempt to get him to pass out early. He spills the drink on himself and has to be helped to his room. Whimsy makes a toast, and Nicholas gives a short speech of thanks. Whimsy questions Nicholas closely about the identity of the masked leader whose forces destroyed Ygg, before the entire family.

    Whimsy meets with the seamstress after supper and is measured for some dresses, then joins Ishmael in the practice room for a little sibling brutality.

    Monday, August 21, 2994

    The next morning, Whimsy attends breakfast, and afterwards speaks with Jalana and Ariana over all manner of topics. Whimsy explains to Ariana about her barrenness, and Ariana tells of Brand and her lost child.

    Ishmael and Whimsy are preparing to go shopping when Whimsy discovers that part of Hendrake is missing. A lot of wasted effort to recover the hand ensues, involving bloodhounds, Fiona, Caine, Lyss, Flora, and finally an attempt to dismember Alex. But it all works out in the end, and Whimsy lets him keep the hand.

    Whimsy goes shopping and buys clothing and a wooden stand for Hendrake's head. Upon returning, she speaks briefly with a rather pissy Flora. Pregnancy just doesn't suit her.

    Supper is fun, and Whimsy offends Vixen, Flora, Fiona, and a host of others by animating Caine's meal. After that, she keeps quiet. After supper, she re-casts the spells she had used in the battle against the Hendrakes, and then goes to watch Ariana and Ishmael spar in the practice room. Gavin, Vixen, and Rénard are also in attendance.

    Tuesday, August 22, 2994

    The next morning, Whimsy skips the funeral for Ronan's men, and instead works on finding info on how to keep Nimue from bothering her. Fiona suggests she talk to Bart. Fat chance of that happening. After lunch, Whimsy grills Teresa about Alex and learns a lot about his vulnerabilities; she also sends him a card congratulating him on his recent betrothal.

    At Deirdre's funeral, Whimsy keeps an eye out for possible attacks, but things are relatively peaceful. At the reception, she mingles, talking to Leto, Lucretia, Teresa, Meyrem, Vixen, Ishmael, and a great many Golden Circle nobles and diplomats. When Ronan's idiocy is revealed, she conjures a noose so that he can hang himself at his leisure.
