Whimsy's log, Chapter 124

    Saturday, September 2 - Tuesday, September 5, 2994

    Before the coronation:

    Whimsy paints Jack, Edwin and Shard, teaches Grayson more about conjuration, studies Pattern lens by using it to spy upon people, studies a bit of Trump artistry with Vincent and Fiona, and learns lip-reading from Caine.

    She also learns things about Alexandra that she would have been happier not knowing.

    Tamaryn, Ariana, and Whimsy go shopping in Amber City.

    Wednesday, September 6, 2994

    The Coronation:

    Whimsy and Shard go, meeting Ishmael and Laughter on the way. Ish seems startled by Shard. Wonder why?

    Driscoll and others are presumptuous about Ish arriving with Laughter. Suhuy is friendly with his daughter. Coronation is tedious, but the Unicorn puts in an appearance. Supper was annoying, as Ish threw food and Grayson was getting way drunk. Psychic warning to him was disregarded.

    Dancing with Shard was nice, save for Ish's interruption. Scrying revealed that there's some kind of sexual tension between the two. Whimsy immediately stops scrying. Is there something in the water of Amber Castle that causes people to become bi? Whimsy hears a drunken Grayson laughing...explains the situation to Ariana and goes to her rooms.

    Eventually, she sleeps.

    Thursday, September 7, 2994

    After the coronation:

    Whimsy talks to Random about building an indoor garden. Whimsy uses her cymbals to wake Grayson and explains that lessons are off until Jack is gone.

    Whimsy keeps busy, until she is Trumped by Grayson. He and Ariana inform her that Grayson uninvited Jack, but that Alexandra reinvited him and ran off with him. Whimsy stomps off to the Pattern. Halfway down the stairs, she reconsiders...Trumps Suhuy...and tattles. Suhuy, Lucien Vetch and Whimsy journey to Faerie to fetch her sister...and are set upon by creatures. The attack stops...they are too late.

    They return to Amber. Whimsy goes to speak with Fiona...Alexandra is already there. Suhuy arrives. They argue...it's ugly...Fiona takes Alexandra off into Shadow for correction.

    Whimsy hugs Dad and returns to her rooms. There is a bouquet of dahlias with a note. She burns them both without even glancing twice.

    Whimsy cries.

    Whimsy walks the Pattern.

    Whimsy is rather bitter.

    The next day, lessons with Grayson are less than pleasant.
