The web version of Social Sciences Citation Index, 1956+, along with
the Arts and Humanities Citation Index and Sciences Citation Index, are
available to the University of Michigan campus through the Web of
Science. Current students, faculty, and students should be able
to reach it via campus ethernet connections and off-site using a modem that
dials into an Ann Arbor NAS number and is configured with a University of
Michigan IP address. The URL is:

BASIC SEARCH PROTOCOLS
- CHOOSE A DATA BASE (science, social sciences or humanities) at the initial screen. If you do not choose a data base, the default is the Sciences Citation Index. You may leave the default at all years.
- QUICK SEARCH is used for finding articles beginning 1987 on a single topic, person, or place (institutional or geographic). It may also be used to find all of the works citing an individual author since 1986.
- FULL SEARCH/GENERAL is used for finding articles beginning 1987 combining a topic, author, author address, journal title, language, and type of material (book review, journal article, etc).
- FULL SEARCH/CITATIONS is used to identify cited references (older books and articles cited by the author of a current journal article.)
- Full Words rather than abbreviations for the topic.
- Keyword searches follow Boolean logic (AND, OR, NOT)
- Phrases are assumed
- The truncation symbol is *
