WHY SHOULD I RE-ELECT TEJ SHAH:

As a re-elected member of MSA I hope to attack a variety of issues.
First of all, as engineers, my focus will be on North Campus concerns. I
currently chair the North Compus Affairs Commission and have finally
received some feeback from students of what they would like done with the
commision. So lets discuss the issues:

1) Everyone is always concerned with the parking situation on North
Campus and for good reason...it sucks. However, I am not going to
promise (like many others will) a new parking structure next to the
Commons for the fact that it simply will not happen, it is out of our
control. Some reasonable changes however would include changing the
meter system to be able to take dollar bills instead of just coins. The
only other realistic change would be to continue pushing for more student
spots instead of the staff paid spots which are rarely full.

2) The second biggest concern involves bussing, particularly on
weekends. I think it is perfectly reasonable for us to expect consistent
bussing especially on those cold winter days. I hope to work with the
bussing services to find a way to increase the number of busses that
travel to North Campus. Constituents have introduced me to a variety of
ideas to help alleviate the problem with everything to space heaters at
the bus stop to adding a door to the covered stop. We can work with
these ideas and hopefully come up with something practicle.

3) Finally, I hope to improve the food situation in the Commons. The
present situation is horrendous with your only choice being Little
Ceasars (with exception to the 3 people that go to Wok Express). I want
to work with the administration and talk to fast food restaurants and
somehow get a new restaurant in the commons or somewhere on North
Campus. I think this a worthy project that we can actually get somewhere
with.

I am thoroughly convinced that the most important function of the
engineering representative is to stay in contact with his/her
constituents. I hope you will find that I have and will continue to do
this and tackle any issues that may concern you. There is an MSA office
in the commons (Student Organization Offices) where you will often find
me, so please feel free to speak with me. If you want to talk more about
the issues, call me at 764-6758 or email me at shahtp@engin.umich.edu.

Thank you for your time and please support me with your vote.
