St Saviour of Southwark

A rate of duties belonging to the Corporation of the churchwardens of the Parish of St Savior of Southwark in the county of Surrey, as well in the right of the said Corporation as also in respect of their title to the Rectory of the said Prish, agreed upon by the general consent of the whole vestry, and confirmed by the Ordinary of this place, in Anno Domini 1613, as followeth, viz:

Marriages with license
Imprimis, it is ordered and agreed that the churchwardens shall have for every couple
    that be married with licence — 8d
And for the service of a minister — 3s
And for the service of a clerk — 14d
And for the service of a sexton — 6d
Sum — 5s 4d

Marriages without license
Item that every couple married without licence in the accustomed time of marriage
    shall pay to the churchwardens — 4d
And for the service of a minister — 14d
And for the service of a clerk — 8d
And for the service of a sexton — 4d
Sum — 2s 6d

Marriages without licence at extraordinary times
Item every couple married at extraordinary times shall pay to the churchwardens — 6d
And for the service of a minister — 20d
And for the service of a clerk — 10d
And for the service of a sexton — 4d
Sum — 3s 4d

Offerings at weddings
Item that the churchwardens shall have for every offering — 12d
And for the minister — nihil
And for the clerk — nihil
And for the sexton — 2d
And for the conductor — 2d

Marriage of women out of the parish
For those women that shall be married out of the parish and did dwell in the parish
    the churchwardens shall have — as above said
For the service of a minister — as above said
For the service of a clerk — as above said

Chrisoms
For every chrisom the churchwardens shall have — 1d

Churchings
Item that the churchwardens shall have at every churching — 5d
And for the service of a minister — 2d
And for the service of a clerk — 2d

Burials in the church
Item that the churchwardens shall have for the ground for every man or woman that
    shall be buried in the church, with an afternoon's knell or without it — 20s
And for the best black cloth — 12d
And for the second black cloth — 8d
And for the third hearse cloth — 4d
And for the worst cloth — 2d
And for the service of a minister if he fetch the corpse — 16d
But if he fetch not the corpse — 8d
And for the service of a clerk if he fetch the corpse — 12d
If he fetch it not — 6d
And for the service of a sexton if he fetch the corpse — 8d
If he fetch not the corpse — 4d
The grave maker — 16d
The conductor — 4d
The four bearers whether they bear the corpse or not, so they give attendance — 16d

Burials in the chancel
Item for the ground for every man or woman buried in the chancel with a knell or without,
    the churchwardens shall have — 26s 8d
And for the services of a minister and rest of the officers as above said

Burials of children in the church
Item for every child buried in the church being under the age of twelve years,
    the churchwardens shall have — 6s 8d
In the chancel — 10s
For the service of a minister if he fetch the corpse — 12d
If he fetch it not — 8d
And for the service of a clerk if he fetch the corpse — 8d
If he fetch it not — 6d
And for the service of a sexton if he fetch the corpse — 6d
If he fetch it not — 4d
The grave maker — 12d
For such as shall die in this parish and be buried in another parish, shall be paid
    such like duties to this parish as if he or she had been buried here in like manner

Item the churchwardens shall have for the ground for every man or woman
    that shall be buried with a coffin in any churchyard next the church — 2s
Without a coffin — 16d
For the service of a minister if he fetch the corpse — 12d
If he fetch not the corpse — 8d
And for the service of a clerk if he fetch the corpse — 8d

And for the service of a sexton if he fetch the corpse — 6d

For an afternoon's knell with the great bell if the party be not buried in the church — 4s
For an hour's knell with the lady bell — [blank]
For an hour's knell with a lesser bell — 8d
To the sexton for an afternoon's knell with the great bell — 4s
For an hour's knell with the lady bell — [blank]
For an hour's knell with a lesser bell — 4d
For the passing bell if it be with the great bell — 12d

To the minister for every child baptised [blank]
Item the clerk is to have for registering the name of the child baptised — 2d
Item it is ordered that the grave maker shall make every man's and woman's grave
    (if there be a coffin) five foot and an half deep if the ground will serve,
    if without a coffin four foot & a half
Every child's grave with a coffin four foot deep, without a coffin three foot and a half
For burial of the poor of the College and all other ordinary weekly pensioners of
    the poor of this parish — nihil
Saving to the grave maker and bearers two pence apiece
Item it is ordered that the clerk shall make a bill of the charges of every burial,
    and shall deliver the same bill to the party that is to pay the charges if it be demanded
Also it is ordered that the clerk shall bring every such bill to one of the churchwardens,
    to the end the churchwarden may set his hand thereto, that so the party may know it to be a true bill
