Why 3 versions?

As I've learned there is some confusion in the "blogosphere" about 
why I "decided to write 3 reviews."  The short answer is "I 
didn't" and "I didn't intend to."

For what (possibly little) it's worth, the reality is that I was 
asked to write  one review and fully intended to have just 
one review. When I submitted it to the JEL (the "original 
version") below, I was asked to remove 2/3 of the original "parts" 
of the review, which I did; I then submitted 1 of those 2/3s to 
the ALER and consigned the remaining 1/3 to exist only on this 
page as part of "the original version."
