La Jolla Cove is always a nice place for a walk. You can see seals, pelicans, waves crashing into rocks, and a large sea cave.

Mount Soledad reaches an elevation of 822 feet and offers a great 360 degree view from the top. You can see downtown San Diego, Mission Bay, La Jolla, Scripps Pier, and the distant Torrey Pines. There is a monument and parking lot at the top.

» swami's beach, encinitas
Swami's beach is north of La Jolla and a good spot to check out tide pools when the tide is low, as it was when we were there. Sea creatures are good at hiding and I think the exposed tide pools get picked over/destroyed by people over time so we didn't see a whole lot of sea life, just brittle stars, sea anemones, and some saw a baby octopus.
