When waves splash over the rocks, water collects in pools. The high pools can get a bit stagnant because they are only refreshed with water during a big storm but others can make nice swimming pools with water that is a bit warmer than the Lake. At this time, however, Lake Superior was perfectly comfortable to swim in.

Do NOT try to vist this park without seeing the pictographs. If a park ranger sees you they will ask you if you have seen the pictographs and if you say no they will shoot you.
