Uto-Aztecan (synchronic)
My work on Uto-Aztecan is primarily historical. The historical papers are ultimately based on my 1991 undergraduate honors thesis at Harvard. My view has been that Northern UA is a well-defined genetic subgroup, and that everything else may constitute a similar Southern UA branch.
My one synchronic study of an individual Uto-Aztecan language is on Tubatulabal phonology, reanalysing data from Voegelin. Its main innovation is an analysis of how glottalization interacts with rhythmic stress and vowel-lengthening. The relative-clause paper was a typological survey based on the literature.
