S.J. Bockstanz
It was in 1906 that my father, S. J. Bockstanz and his brother, C.K., founded Bockstanz Brothers (Bockstanz, Inc.) in the building later occupied by Berman's Restaurant (near Times Square).

After a couple of moves, they moved to an 1880's vintage warehouse at 131 W. Woodbridge one block from Vernor's and the Mariners Church. In 1946, the building was condemned to make room for the Veteran's Bldg.

I joined the company in time for the move to 1205 Beaufait (near Belle Isle).

In 1967, we moved to larger quarters at 13045 Hillview (Fenkell-Meyers area). Our warehouse and service facilities are still at this Detroit address. Company offices moved to Livonia a few years ago.
