Hunt Street Station 2200 Hunt (corner of Dubois), Detroit, MI 42°21'02.0"N 83°01'59.6"W 42.350553, -83.033221 I took shelter on the porch of Hunt Street Station while out on a rainy bike ride at night in 2011, and I noticed the detail of the facade for the first time. Twelve figures of police officers are carved into the limestone facade, each one with a distinctly individual human face, so life-like and realistically cop-like that I feel certain *real* human, 1890's cops were the models. I went back to photograph a number of times, and there are more than 60 images on this page. The building is being renovated (2017) and the facade cleaned up, which is good, but it's now lost the patina shown in these photos. |
