Another busy
day of sight-seeing on Saturday. First on our list was the Museum of Science
and Industry. That's Kathy at the entrance to the space exhibit, where
Jim was thrilled to see the Apollo 8 capsule and one of the LEMs.
We got digitized
in Net World--you could see several copies of yourself at once in a mirror--and
checked out the whisper gallery where you could whisper into a the at
one end of a large room and hear it plainly out of another at the far
end.

A few blocks
away was Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style masterpiece, Robie House,
which is going through a major renovation to restore it to its original
glory. The tour guide was really knowledgeable about the various people
who had once lived there and the subsequent abuse at the hands of various
organizations.
The house was
really ahead of its time (1909), with recessed lighting, decorative covers
over the radiators, and a "front porch" (the jutting structure
behind us, left) which started a trend.

We got to the
return train platform a bit early, and were concerned that it might not
show up, because the place was deserted and there was a sign saying that
the normal schedule had changed. Just before it was due, a few other passengers
gathered, and we got back downtown on schedule.
Had a great dinner
at Shaw's Crab House (right), then took another cab back to Northwestern
Station for the trip back to Crystal Lake. We returned to Ann Arbor Sunday
via Amtrak (no delays this time) and our legs finally got a good rest.
