Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - Rest Day in Vancleave

The forecast for today and tomorrow was rain. Somehow we got lucky and so far, no rain today. There are some very nice folks who reside in the campground who made a point of catching the local weather forecast for us. Apparently, the front that had all the rain was breaking up, let's hope that holds true for tomorrow as well.
We were in need of a day off, but were not in a good position for one until today. Some of the conditions are a fairly nice place to stay and a food source that is close by. Laundry facilities are a plus. Vancleave fit the bill. We slept close to 12 hours before Joan was hungry and wanted breakfast.
The man across the road offered us real coffee, so we went over and chatted with him for a while. We had also sat around the campfire with him and a few other neighbors last night. The people in the campground are very friendly. The rest of the day was spent doing laundry, napping, reading and catching up on email. Tomorrow we start thru Mobile.
We can't take the ferry south of the bay as we had intended to because the ferry was called to South Padre Island where the bridge is out due to the barge running into it in September. So we will end up going right thru Mobile. We will spend a night in the city, then finish it off the next day. On Friday we should be at Jeff's Aunt Jo and Uncle Stan's house in Gulf Breeze (near Pensacola).
