 
Saturday, October 6, 2001 - Break Day
El Centro, CA, day off.
Break day, and we need it. Spent the day getting
my (Joan's) rear wheel fixed. Found a great bike shop, "Finish
Line" that was able to do the job. Normally it wouldn't be a big
deal, but our rear wheels are "vintage" (from the 80s), so they
rebuilt the rear wheel using the front rim and we purchased a new front wheel.
I am very happy to have that problem fixed, it was a bit frightening riding on a
cracked rim on the steep, long descent on I-8 yesterday.
Spent the rest of the day eating a giant lunch, then
napping and watching college football, then going for a swim. We are
planning on getting a predawn start tomorrow, it will be a 85 mile day.
