MEAM 599-B

Automotive Body Structure

Donald Malen & Noboru Kikuchi

Class Information

This course is designed to provide foundation of automotive body structures for the students and engineers whose have equivalent background of the first year graduate student. We shall introduce the concept of the first order analysis(FOA) for automotive body structures based on advanced strength of materials in order to provide basic analysis tools to body design engineers, while we shall also describe the minimum amount of knowledge on the finite element analysis (FEA) for automotive bodies. It is, however, noted that students need not have background of the finite element method. Emphasis of this course is for design not for analysis.
