The Piedmont
Photo Index
It was July in Italy, and I imagined that the big attractions would be jam
packed with tourists and also very hot. My guidebook calls the Piedmont
‘Tuscany without the tourists.’ This region just below the Alps seemed
like the perfect place to go off the beaten track.
The rolling countryside.
There are many little villages that we might see as beautifully rustic, in
an elegant slow decay due to economic decline.
Apparently some roads still do lead to Rome, maybe I will take this path
next time.
Here’s a path straight out of the 18th Century.
The remains of a civil tower on top of a local hilltop.
A one room church that makes quite a contrast with the Milan cathedral.
The river valley.
