• OMIM -- Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man:
  OMIM is the continuously updated online version of Dr. Victor A. McKusick's book MENDELIAN INHERITANCE IN MAN (MIM). Because this knowledge-base is updated daily, the entries may differ from the most recently published version of the book. The book is searchable on-line.

• Short Rounds Development Consortium home page, from Stanford University:
  Short Rounds is a case presentation project that allows a student to quickly go through a set of patient files that supports text, sound, pictures, and QuickTime movies. Based on the information presented, a student is required to make a differential diagnosis. Clinical faculty members can enter cases using any word processor and import the cases into Short Rounds for interactive presentation. The goal of the Short Rounds Development Consortium (SRDC) is to encourage collaboration between diverse universities and groups on the development of a library of clinical cases.
• THE INTERACTIVE PATIENT: a teaching tool for physicians, residents and medical students offering a case with a chief complaint to the user who then has to interact with the patient requesting additional history, performing a physical exam, and reviewing laboratory data and x-rays.
• WellnessWeb - The Patient's Network
  An interactive, community approach to the delivery of health care information, combining original material with links to dozens of other online medical resources. Contains "the latest medical information, "and is ongoing source of physical, social, and emotional support." A number of interactive forums, such as Back Fence, serve as sites for patients to learn about treatment options and side effects, and trade personal experiences. They can also meet in the PAT-NET, an activist forum, to voice their opinions about the general state of health care, legislation, insurance, and other controversies. Several "Medical Centers" are currently being developed by teams of seasoned patients and professional providers. More than 80 Preventive Care reports will also be available under the direction of the Center for Current Research. About 20 of the reports are already online.
