Vannevar Bush and Memex
![[ Picture, Vannevar Bush ]](graphics/vannevar2.GIF) Vannevar Bush was a scientist and inventor, and is known most for his creation of the first Differential Analyzer in 1931: a machine that could solve two third-order differential equations simultaneously. Less known, and perhaps just as important, was Bush's plan for a device he called Memex.
While working on projects such as the Differential Analyzers, Bush became more interested in the same area Wells had in the 1930's: the overwhelming amount of academic information and literature that was being published.
