Alumni Field
Originally known as Varsity Diamond, Alumni Field offered a permanent home just west of where the softball team started playing just four years earlier. Nestled in between the railroad tracks, the track and tennis building and Oosterbaan Fieldhouse, Alumni the facility goes centerfield-to-centerfield with Fisher Stadium.
Completely renovated in 1992, an extensive facelift gave the area permanent steel stands, an enclosed press box, open dugouts, bullpens and paved parking areas. The $100,000 improvements included landscaping both on and around the diamond, an irrigation system for the outfield, and a left field scoreboard.
Opened on May 3, 1982, Alumni Field featured fences 200 feet from home plate down the lines and 220 feet to dead center field. The stands can accomodate a crowd of 1,000 with ground seating available down the left field line and behind the center field fence.
