    Supplementary Texts

I have placed on order, Richard Marius, A Short Guide to Writing History, Second Edition for anyone who wishes further information on writing historical papers.

If your knowledge of American history is a bit rusty, you may wish to consider purchasing any single-volume history of the US for reference and edification.

Note: All required texts are on reserve in the library. While we read almost all of some of the texts, we read only selected chapters from others.

The recommended readings are either articles I have collected and bound or additional readings in the ASHE Reader (or other required text) which pertain to the topic at hand. This is not an exhaustive list, but they are designed to provide you with further reading on a topic in which you may be particularly interested. These readings are not required. The recommended material, and the texts from which they emanate, may be useful references for your document analysis and research paper. The readings which are chapters in books are so indicated (e.g. "from Levine"). Readings without such notation are typically journal articles or primary documents which are fully referenced on the handouts. Bound copies of the recommended readings are also on reserve in the CSHPE library.

JFF = Just For Fun; enjoy these readings!
