Joe Camel, picture here, is a character that has been used for years to sell Camel Cigarettes. Although there appears to be nothing usual about the cartoon, look closely at the nose and mouth. There is an obvious resemblance to the male genitalia, and this resemblance was definitely not an accident on Camel Cigarette's part.
