Membership
Requirements:
1. Minimum
presentations: 1
2.
Prepared to actively participate in
presentations.
Facilitator Role:
1.
Schedule presentation topics for each semester.
2.
Attend all presentations.
3.
E-mail pdf files to members.
4.
Establish procedures for
Presentation Format in the first meeting and engage Member’s Interest.
5.
Read all appropriate articles
submitted by members and be prepared to question presenter/members
scientific reasoning in the article.
6.
Promote and solicit Journal Club
across Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
7.
Use Budget to Provide Refreshments
8.
Nomination/Elections every end of the year.
Journal Meeting Format
1.
Meet every 2 weeks to discuss an
article of interest, related to and applicable for pharmaceutical research.
a.
1 Hour/ 1 Meeting
2.
Article topics will be determined by group,
and each member will pick an area of interest (ie: Targeted delivery,
Transporters, Formulations, Gene delivery, Pharmacogenomics , Pro-Drugs, PK/PD
etc.
Presentation
Format (examples)
1.
One person will present at each
meeting, issuing a summary of the article, and then open up the meeting for
a discussion and criticism of the research.
2.
Use Powerpoint slides to
illustrate key points—not too elaborate or detailed
a.
15-20 Slides (15-20 min)
Marketing/Solicitation Tactics
1.
Have lunch/dinner at the first
meeting to draw interest
2.
Subsequent meetings can be less
formal
3.
