The valve ends are isopolar to slightly heteropolar. The wing projection is clearly visible. The gurdle view is rectangular or trapazoidal with cuneate and rounded ends.

Ecological distribution
Found in lakes, ponds, springs/ streams, pools, and thermal springs. pH: Acidophilous, indifferent, alkailphilous, alkalibiontic. (Beaver 1981).
