Kibrom is a teenager who lives with 8 other family members, his parents and 6 siblings. The family of this size is not unusual in his community. Kibrom works hard in school during the day, which takes less than 30 minutes to reach by foot. Outside of school, he helps out his family with chores. He likes to spend time with his family and friends and listening to the radio.

Although Kibrom's family has been lucky enough to receive clean water from a connection established by Plan, water-borne illnesses are still a common problem in the community. Plan has been working with local officials to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS and training medical personnel. Plan also has been helping building more classrooms for children.
