Research interests
My research is in women's health,
especially menopause. Recent work with a colleague demonstrated the
effect of ambient temperature on menopausal hot flashes: women had
significantly fewer and less intense hot flashes in a controlled cool
environment than in a controlled warm environment. Flashes were
recorded as sudden decreases in skin resistance, increase in heart
rate, and increase in finger temperature. Women did not report any
hot flashes that did not show on the physiological monitors. See:
