2005-06

FRIEZE BUILDING
1906- 2006
Even though the facility showed every one of it's 100 years and we did need a new facility it was sad to see her go down. (In some respects).

Ed Morris
BFA 2006
Who wouldnt want to be a member of the "My life has been scared by Ed Morris" Facebook.com user group. Ed had a heart of gold and a will of steel. Who else could quit all his vices in the last few sesons of an active theatre education. We hope that his family Christmas cards never stop. Ed is nkown to have left the harsh world of the midwest to a safer New England region. He seems to have found a job that suits his passions. If you need a props carpenter ...call ED.

Veronica "Ronnie" Smith
Bachelors 2006
Ronnie spent 4 years in the scene shop. Her personality and work ethic were much larger than here petite froame. (Which was handy because we made her crawl under many a deck to fix something. ) She was last known to be turning into the Former Miss Smith and is now known to be the New Mrs. Robinson. She is planning on graduate school in the near future.

2004-05

Mark Altman
Whatever his degree is 2003
Mark came to us through th:250 His skills were excelent. He was hired the following semester and spent the next few semesters working with us. What really set him apart was he was the only male student employee who ever understood that some of the ladies in the labs were smitten with him. He took advantage of this and asked the lovely Whitney out. After graduation Mark spent a year filling in the Power Shop for Bob who was out with an injury. After the school year he proposed to the lovely Whitney and she accepted. Last known headed to Gotham to make their mark in the Big City .

As we enter into the last year of the Frieze Building it is appropriate to add some faculty and staff to the hall of fame. Some designers, some staff, some faculty. All touched us in some manner deserving to be remembered with our shop long after it is gone.

Susan Crabtree
Scenic Artist
Susan worked for the UM for most of the 1990's.
She may be the bestic scenic to grace our presence.
Anyone seriously interested in Scenic Painting Should get her book.
She was last known to be in Colorado running her own paint shop.

Henery P.Reynolds
Master Electrician
HPR as we refer to him was the ME for Uprod for ever. As Tecnology advanced he grew into the position of Dept. IT Guru. But before his modern incarnation he was the man that set the system of running the Electrics shop that is still closely followed today.

Peter Budert
Asst Professor, head of D&P
Peter was the head of design in the early 1990s. he was left alone with a faculty whos time and projects elsewhere were more important. Peter held down the fort and was instrumental is getting the D&P BFA Program off the ground.

Philip Kerr
Professor/ Director/ Actor
Love em or Hate em he has directed more shows through the Frieze Shop than anyone else. We appriciate one of the only (visiting or staff ) Directors who regularly visits the shop and adds input and gathers info from his visits.

Mark Sullivan
Production Manager
Who can forget the ponytail and the Purse. Mark was Metrosexual before it was vouge. Production Manager through most of the 1990's. One of the origional UProd Department staff. But after all his years of effort he will always be remembered for "the e-mail"

Fatima Abdullah
Administrative Guru of UProd
Fatima has been the glue holding the office together for longer than this HOF list has been active. Anyone who can work with all these theater people, fix all of our administrative screw ups and deals with Human Resources/Benifits for us is a queen. IMHO

Jay Mazure
IATSE 395
Jay left us for better places last year. He will always be in our thoughts. One of the first members in the local to be accepting and understanding of the student needs while working with the shop. Seeing Jay on your call at a load in always gave comfort to the TD that things would run safe and smoothely. Will be greatly missed for his knowledge and love of sports.
His hat will always be hung in our shop.

The Naked Girl in the Tool Room
1992
One of the best Frieze Shop Stories. Who will ever forget the lab student (who was given a tour of the shop and shown the greenroom/dressing rooms) that thought it would be a good idea to change into "shop clothes" in the tool room. Opening the tool room expecting to get a hammer ...................

Allen Young
Film and Video Faculty and Staff
Allen may have been in the Frieze Bldg longer than anyone. The need to share the elevator created a common bond between him and the shop.

Our Plant Dept Friends
Sandy: Zone maintenence
She has been here for over 15 years. Lovingly known as the Light Bulb lady.
Eric: Costodial crew
Nobody has taken care of our needs and faught against his superiors to help us than Eric. I think he may be in the building till the wrecking ball hits .
Mark: Zone Electrician
Anyone who has kept the light on in the shop and the stupid contacts and relays working when he isnt allowed to get new parts is a Hero.
Rich: Costodial Crew
Rich was the Frieze Shop area Costodian for 10 years .

2003-04

Katie Powell
BA LSA 2004
Shortly after graudation and off on a path to pursue a career as a cowboy, Katies old Co-op Burnt to the ground. Katie was the namer of tools. Always will we remember the "klickky thingy" and other great shop devices. Katie worked three years in the shop. Last known to be heading east and looking for a good Landscape Design program.

Bonnie Aumann
BA LSA 2004
Three Seasons in the shop and we could never get her to transfer into Design and production. Headed to the city of Gotham after graduation. Will she end up working in the Arts?, Graphics, Photography or for a non profit making the world a better place :)

2002-03

Caleb Levengood
BTA Design/Production 2003
Set Designer :

Worked in the shop three years and a semester of Th: 250. (yes we sucked him into the dark side. Last known sighting he was deciding between SDSU and NYU for graduate school. Almost did not make the Shop hall of fame because he was two hours from the Punkin Chunkin Festival and DID NOT ATTEND IT. Shame on him. But further reflection on his time in the shop required his inclusion here. UPDATE: Caleb finished grad school and headed to the Big Apple.

Jennifer Lohman
Art School 2003
Jen came in as a th:250 student. Her work ethic and willingness to do anything got her hired in the shop. last known was in the Capital Area working in graphics and design. Rock On!

2001-02

Heather Chockley
BFA Design/Production 2001
After a few weks of heat and humidity and Stage Managing the Festival of New works. Heather purchased a new (used0 car. On her way out east for her first job the car died. She learned that Sprint PCS™ doesnt work in the mountains of PA. AT Um she will be most remembered for her Stage Managing Skills and 3 years in the scene shop. She would most like to forget the Lighting Design of that one opera.....
