Elders' Program

Mission Statement

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Elders' Program will work to identify cultural and social needs of all LTBB member elders and will work to identify available national, state and tribal resources to meet the needs of the LTBB Elders. The LTBB Elders' Program will work to utilize resources available to provide a permanent, accessible Tribal support system for all LTBB Tribal Elders.

This department provides direct services to those members 55 years of age or older. It is the vision of the program to service LTBB Elders regardless of geographical location. In order to achieve this vision, the staff of the program is constantly researching different programs that would benefit each elder fairly.

To date, the Elder's Program operates from two funding sources:

A grant funded by the Association On Aging. This grant does limit services to those individuals living in the immediate service area. This program focuses on nutrition. Currently the program offers two congregate meals, one is offered once a week and the other is bi-weekly.

Enterprise Revenue. These funds are unrestricted, meaning there aren't any geographical restrictions on these funds. These
funds are focused on servicing the at-large elders. As I have mentioned, we are constantly looking at programs that would be most beneficial.
