Grandmother's Wisdom
Mental Health Program
Mission Statement
Grandmothers' Wisdom Mental Health Program is dedicated to the provision of quality services for Anishinaabe families using and promoting family strengths. Grandmothers' Wisdom recognizes the importance of being in balance with oneself and the community in which one lives.
This program is committed to the utilization of existing resources including Tribal elders, healers, traditional medicine people, spiritual leaders, and trained mental health professionals to help guide individuals in their pathways of healing.
"We envision an ongoing healing process, where grandparents once again take up their roles as teachers and wisdom keepers; where village adult once again find their role and place in the world as healthy contributing Anishinaabe people." Arlene Naganashe
"Together we will heal the splits which have occurred in our world." Frank Ettawageshik
Grandmothers' Wisdom has four components. They include therapeutic services for individuals, families, and groups; educational outreach, seasonal encampments and serving as a link between the youth and the elders.
Grandmothers' Wisdom is pleased to announce the addition of outpatient mental health services offered by a culturally sensitive team of qualified professionals using a holistic treatment model.
