The Waid-Coleman House
9332 S. Damen Avenue
1894, Daniel Everett Waid - architect
remodeled to current state in 1906 by Henry K. Holsman
Queen Anne - architectural style
This house was originally built for the architect Daniel
Everett Waid, who was employed by the firm of Jenney and Mundie.
The house originally was Queen Anne in style and not symmetrical, according
to reports based on old photographs. Yet Charles Coleman had Henry
Holsman remodel the house. It was probably at this time that the
house attained the symmetry that is seen in the photograph. Charles
Coleman was also a noted civic leader. The home was later owned by
Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
