Objectives: Most commercial 2 part temporary restoratives contain resins such as ethoxylated Bisphenol A methacrylate that contain Bisphenol A (BPA) components.� Reports have implicated BPA as causing toxic effects and there may be small traces sometimes present. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical properties of an experimental peroxide-free provisional material (EXP) that does not contain a BPA component and compare with commercial types. Methods: Barcol hardness (935) was measured according to D4823. Flexural strength was measured according to ISO4849. Compressive Strength was measured according to ANSI/ADA Specification No. 27 (1993). Results: The following table lists the property measurements. For all materials tested the set time was less than 2 minutes. The results of each measurement were compared by ANOVA and Tukey tests (p≤0.05).

Conclusions : EXP shows equivalent flexural strength and compressive strength and Barcol hardness to one commercial product. This suggests that material EXP shows promise for further testing and possible clinical use.
