Tissue Engineering Scaffolds A Materials & Biological Overview

Thursday, March 22, 2012: 12:15 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
Session Type: Lunch and Learning
1.25 CE hours

Sponsored by: Dental Materials
Description: Scaffolds play a major role in Regenerative Dentistry because they provide physical support to guide new tissue formation. Polymer, ceramic and composites scaffolds have been developed. This presentation will provide an overview of scaffold fabrication and characterization techniques, and the biological benefits associated with their use in regenerative dentistry
Learning Objectives:
Ability to select appropriate method to characterize scaffold properties
Comprehension of the advantages/disadvantages of scaffold fabrication methods
Understand the role of scaffolds in new tissue formation
