Description: For effective management of dry mouth in geriatric population, early diagnosis and aggressive, symptom-based treatment are necessary to help alleviate much of the discomfort and retard progression of the disorder, and promote comfort. Patients with dry mouth are at high risk for periodontal disease and dental caries.
Learning Objectives:
Emphasis upon etiology, clinical manifestations, strategies for early pharmacological intervention and treatment.
Overview of pharmacological intervention of periodontal disease in geriatric population.
Discuss the relationship between dry mouth and dental caries, periodontal disease and other systemic diseases in geriatric population.
