In preparation for "Take Your Child to School/Visit Your Child in School" Day, the National African American Parent Involvement Day Committee is calling upon all mentors to do the following:
- Support NAAPID.
- Make a commitment on the number of students and the amount of
time you are available to mentor.
- Provide leadership and positive role modeling for
students.
- Maintain an open and honest relationship -- one that is
supportive of the family and school.
- Maintain frequent communication with the student's parents or
guardians regarding the mentoring process.
- Maintain a trusting and professional relationship with
students and families.
- Follow through with your commitment to the
students.
- Confer with parents/guardians on where and when mentoring activities will take place.
