Click here for National Information History of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter It was then that Founders Nwoke and Onyemaechi sought out a sorority that fit the ideals that they had been looking for from the beginning. And it was then that they found Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. With the seed of hope planted in their minds, they were so passionate about their quest to make their idea a reality that they immediately sought and acquired the additional help of other University of Michigan students who founded the interest group, T.R.U.E. Among the members of T.R.U.E. were three women who would complete the founding line, Kathy Chen, Alissa Renz, and Tamara Washington. The members of T.R.U.E. then contacted Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. and, to their delight, their mission to bring this wonderful organization to the University of Michigan was accepted. From the original twelve women in T.R.U.E., only five persevered. With much focus and sheer dedication, the Founders worked to prepare the foundation for a successful chapter at The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. With the passing of Proposal 2 in November of 2006 across the state of Michigan, the Founders loyalty to their mission was renewed, as they knew that if there was any time in which acknowledgement and acceptance of multiculturalism was needed, it was then. The Founders’ efforts eventually paid off. The Alpha Epsilon Colony was finally founded on December 9th, 2006 at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. |
