WAIT (Work Alternatives for Individuals in their third Trimester)

HELP EMPOWER PREGNANT WOMEN IN NEED

In order to qualify for welfare in the state of Michigan, a person must participate in 35 hours of "work-related activities" per week. This requirement does not change for anyone, even if you are in your third trimester of pregnancy. Imagine going to daily job interviews while you are 7 months pregnant. Who is going to hire a pregnant woman?! Chances are your self-esteem is really low after facing countless employment rejections and physically you're not feeling so hot either.

Enter HERO and Project WAIT!!

Project WAIT (Work Alternatives for Individuals in their 3rd Trimester) is equivalent to a part time job for pregnant women receiving state aid. They learn goal setting as well as office skills and quilting while receiving counseling!

If you are interested in learning more about project WAIT, feel free to email us or come to one of our weekly meetings.
