In ESPN's first reality game show, "Beg,
Borrow and Deal," two teams raced from New
York to California with no money or other resources.
The teams completed sports-related tasks (like working
concessions at a baseball game) to "beg, borrow
and deal" themselves to their destination. Rich
Eisen, '90, hosted the show and Team Contact featured
Julian Bryce, '94, a freelance reporter. Despite the
U-M connections, Bryce's team lost.

The
U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Cancer Biomarker
Prevention Group of the University of Leicester have
been selected to test a new cancer prevention drug.
Both universities will conduct preclinical and clinical
evaluation of resveratrol, a natural compound found
in red wine that possesses anti-cancer activity in
experimental models. The study, funded by the US National
Cancer Institute, will use healthy volunteers and
patients with early stages of cancer.

The
U-M will go to a bowl game this year, but which one?
If the Wolverines upset the Buckeyes tomorrow, U-M
bowl possibilities include BCS, CaptialOne and Outback
bowls. If Michigan loses to Ohio State, the U-M will
either go to the CapitalOne or Outback bowl. But if
Penn State tops MSU on Saturday, then the U-M is probably
headed to the Outback bowl.
On
Nov. 13, the first day of National Letters of Intent
early signing period, the U-M basketball program received
letters of intent from Dion Harris, a 6-3 guard from
Detroit; Brent Petway, a 6-8 forward from McDonough,
Ga.; and Courtney Sims, a 6-11 forward/center from
Roslindale, Mass. All three future Wolverines average
more than 17 points per game and have received several
honors for their performances.
