About Us |
The Michigan Dance Team is a competitive dance group that aims to represent and support The University of Michigan positively through spirit. The team was founded 20 years ago and is currently the highest ranked division 1A college dance team in the state. The team is currently composed of 16 undergraduate girls from a variety of majors who share a passion for dance. The Michigan Dance Team is considered a Club Sport, which means that we are a self-run team led by the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team consists of five (5) team-elected members: Senior Captain, Junior Captain, Treasurer, Production Officer, and Special Events Officer. You can find the team supporting U of M Athletics at many varsity sporting events including all Men's home basketball games and home football games. The team also supports the University and its students at other campus events throughout the year. Additionally, the Michigan Dance Team represents the University outside of campus at the Universal Dance Association's (UDA) National Cheer and Dance Team Competition held in Orlando, Florida every January. In 2006, the Michigan Dance Team took home 8th place for division 1A dance and 4th in the Big Ten. The dance team loves being a part of Michigan Athletics and is thankful for every chance they get to represent the University and bring spirit to its students. |
