Amber

Amber is the fossilized resin from coniferous trees that flourished millions of years ago, especially around what is now the Baltic Sea area; it is the substance from which amulet jewelry (to ward off ghosts and demons) is created, and is capable of generating electricity through rubbing. Its yellow color and electric properties make amber a symbol of solar, spritual, and divine attraction, and in Christian imagery the amber faces of saints reflect their divine inner light. In China, it is courage, the "soul of the TIGER"; (Cooper, 12). Related to the sun and fertility as well. In Ezekial, God 'had the colour of amber from the loins up', and the mythical Freya, who was the wife of the sun-god and the Mother-goddess of fertility and love, wore a necklace made of amber.
