Shadow
With light, the shadow is the Chinese yin
and yang; shadows are often identified with a person's soul, and they
are considered "dark entities with a nature all of their own" (Biederman,
303). From a Jungian perspective, shadows are the unconscious layers of
the personality that are integrated into the structure of the "experienced
world" only through the process of individuation.
