Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

At what age did you start gymnastics?   9
How did you become involved in gymnastics?   I started to get stronger for swimming and soccer
What is your favorite event? Why?   Vault; high energy and aggressiveness are necessary and depends more on strength and speed.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   Academically and athletically, you can’t find a better combination. I loved the team and coaches on my recruiting trip and it is fairly close to home. (drivable)
What is it like competing for U-M?   It is amazing to have the chance to represent the University and all the wonderfully talented people that go to school here. It can only be described as a gift I’ll always be able to look back on with pride.
What has been your most memorable (gymnastics) moment at U-M?   When we beat the University of Georgia at home last year and winning the Big 10 Championship.
What has been your most memorable (non-gymnastics) moment at U-M?   I’ll always look back and remember the wonderful hours I spent talking and getting to know my closest friends, whom I couldn’t live without. Learning about different people and their experiences is what college is all about. I’ve never known so many people who are so deeply important to me.

What inspires you to keep going after a disappointing meet or a tough week of practice?   Knowing that the opportunity to do gymnastics is a gift that I’ll only have for a few more years inspires me to keep pushing because I want to make the most of each moment.
What advice would you share with up-and-coming gymnasts who aspire to be like you or one of your teammates?   Work hard in the gym, but don’t forget that working hard in school is even more important. Gymnastics is a great hobby that will teach you a lot, but learning will shape your future.

Q & A - About You Personally

Something unique about me:
1. I talk to both of my parents on the phone usually twice a day still.
2. I love to talk and debate about anything.
3. I ask a lot of questions.

Of all the places you have traveled to, which has been your favorite? Why?
Anywhere that I’ve gone with just my family. We’ve created so many memories together that are irreplaceable and have had experiences that I’ll cherish in the years ahead as I return to places we’ve been and remember the great times we had there together.

Who do you admire most in this world? Why?
I admire each and every student that goes to U of M. I love walking around campus, in the libraries, the fishbowl, etc, and seeing so many talented and driven people, all on one campus, here to learn and change the future. I am grateful to be associated and get to know all of the students, teachers, and administrators at our amazing school.

Besides family or friends, what is the ONE thing you couldn't live without?
My computer

What do you plan on doing after you graduate from U-M?
I want to work, a lot, hopefully in some area of Accounting or Finance. I want to continue to educate myself, getting a masters degree in Accounting and later on a PhD and become a professor later in life.
