The gene product has tyrosine-specific protein kinase activity and that activity is required for maintenance of cellular transformation. Its chromosomal location has linked it to a specific translocation event identified in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia but it is also involved in normal hematopoiesis as well as growth factor and cytokine receptor signaling. Alternative splicing results in multiple variants encoding different isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009] .. _OMIM ID 190030 : http://omim.org/entry/190030 .. _FES OMIM Text: OMIM **** :OMIM ID: `OMIM ID 190030 `_ .. _FES Phenotype: NCBI Phenotypes *************** * Genetic variants in novel pathways influence blood pressure and cardiovascular disease risk. * Genome-wide association study identifies six new loci influencing pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure. * NHGRI GWA Catalog .. _FES GO Term: Gene Ontology ************* * positive regulation of myeloid cell differentiation * Golgi apparatus * microtubule cytoskeleton * cytosol * cytoplasm * protein tyrosine kinase activity * cytoplasmic membrane-bounded vesicle * positive regulation of microtubule polymerization * multicellular organismal development * peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation * cell proliferation * extrinsic to internal side of plasma membrane * regulation of cell shape * axon guidance * immunoglobulin receptor binding * cytoplasmic vesicle * positive regulation of neuron projection development * focal adhesion * ATP binding * regulation of cell proliferation * protein autophosphorylation * regulation of cell motility * regulation of cell adhesion * positive regulation of actin cytoskeleton reorganization * protein phosphorylation * non-membrane spanning protein tyrosine kinase activity * regulation of vesicle-mediated transport * phosphatidylinositol binding * regulation of mast cell degranulation * regulation of cell differentiation .. _FES Pathway: KEGG Pathways ************* * `Axon guidance `_ .. _FES GeneRIF: GeneRIFs ******** * Affinity Capture-MS [`PMID 17353931`_] * Downregulation of the c-Fes protein-tyrosine kinase inhibits the proliferation of renal carcinoma.
