       30      DAYS ALIVE

               This variable counts the number of days between when a
               coversheet was issued and when the interview was completed.
               This variable was built from the control file. Since only
               one disposition (interview, non-interview) was taken from
               each cluster in a sample week, those cases in the control
               file where the previous case has the same cluster ID and
               sample week were REDRAWN coversheets. Days Alive,
               therefore, is equal to Che "Days of Interviewing" Period
               for all sheets that WERE NOT REDRAWN. For those coversheets
               that WERE REDRAWN, Days Alive records the difference
               between "Days of Interviewing" Period for the record and
               the previous record.
