Wolverines defeat Central Michigan with ease

ANN ARBOR—The Michigan women's club lacrosse team posted a lopsided win against Central Michigan for Parents' Day. It was also the seniors' — Kelsey Martin, Melissa Oddo, Emmy Scheidt, Alaina Mezwa, Maddie Palmer and Ani Shekerjian — last home game at Oosterbaan.
The Wolverines started the day with an unofficial scrimmage against Birmingham United, which was good practice for both teams. Then Ferris State and Central squared off and the Chippewas dominated over their opponent. The day ended with Michigan dominating over Central.
Each senior, except for Scheidt in the goal, scored at least one goal to commemorate their last game at Oosterbaan Field House. Shekerjian was the leader of the Wolverines with a total of four goals — Alaina Mezwa and Claire Gadra followed with three each.
Michigan crushed the Chippewas in a fifteen goal differential. Central put the first goal on the board, but the Wolverines answered and gave up just three goals in the first half. It seemed that Michigan came off every draw strongly — forcing turnovers and recovering numerous ground balls with strong defensive play also.
When the Wolverines claimed an early lead, there was no stopping them. Last weekend, Michigan recorded a similar win against Western Michigan — both games were required In-Conference matchups and they have only one remaining -- MSU, on April 15th in East Lansing. Before that, however, the Wolverines head West to face some top national opponents at the Mile High Invitational in Boulder (March 30-April 1st).
